May 18, 2012 (Wrightsville NC) Today the North Carolina Association for Staffing Professionals (NCASP) named Mary Storms to its Hall of Fame. Mary is owner of STORMS Associates, a firm that recruits sales talent for technology companies nationwide. Hall of Fame membership is recognition of long-term contribution to NCASP and to the recruiting and staffing industries in North Carolina.
In presenting the award, Past President Jonathan Weiner noted especially Mary’s contributions as NCASP’s former Communications Director. In that position, she led a joint effort to reformat and expand Staffing Now, NCASP’s bi-monthly newsletter, into an online magazine. During that time, the ezine was acknowledged as one of the top publications for state recruiting associations.
“I’m honored and truly surprised to join the other Hall of Famers,” Mary said. “It’s worth remembering that NCASP is 100% led by volunteers who are amazingly energetic and dedicated to furthering best practices in our industry.”
Mary has been on the NCASP Board of Directors since 2005. In 2008, she was named NCASP Member of the Year. Mary is currently NCASP Secretary and, in addition to that and the Communications role, has served as Regional Director in Charlotte, then in western NC.
Mary started recruiting in 1996, as a generalist at Ambassador Personnel in Charlotte. In 2004, she began STORMS Associates, focusing on tech sales recruiting. In 1998, Mary became a national Certified Personnel Consultant, a tested certification earned through the National Association of Personnel Services. This spring, she earned Notre Dame’s executive negotiation certification.
